Talc is found in nature as magnesium silicate, as a water-containing compound with the formula 3MgO-4SiO2-H2O. When used in thermoset resin systems, it provides electrical insulation and heat and moisture resistance. The system with talc filler is mechanically easy to work and sand. It can be used as a filler in sheet and compound molding compositions.
